Collections/Resources

Reference Collection: The basic reference collection contains more than 200 volumes of directories, dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, yearbooks and biographical source texts with particular emphasis on U.S. Government and politics, as well as a small collection of periodicals on the United States and Cuba.

Circulating Collection:  The book collection comprises more than 980 books about the United States, Cuba, Social Policies, Economy, Human Rights, Management, Leadership, Elections, English Teaching, Novels and Children Literature.

Periodicals and Journals: The IRC subscribes to many general and specialized U.S. magazines. The IRC also provides access to the following
electronic magazines from the Department of State’s International Information Program (IIP): Economic Perspectives; Global Issues; Issues of Democracy; U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda; U.S. Society & Values.  Users may peruse these e-journals and request copies via our “table of contents” service.

CD-Roms: The IRC has a small collection of CD-ROMs, including encyclopedias, U.S. maps, U.S. history and information for students about U.S. universities and colleges.

Academic Advising Information:  In addition to the above-mentioned CD Roms, the IRC (Eleanor Roosevelt Center) has complete sets of the standard university information reference sets.

On-line Databases (accessible only by IRC staff): The IRC subscribes to several
online databases covering a range of sources and subjects in mostly full-text format:  Books in Print; Congressional Quarterly’s Collection; Encyclopedia Britannica; EBSCO; Factiva; Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS); Federal News Service (FNS); Gale Net; Lexis-Nexis; The Economist Intelligence Unit; Leadership Directories; Proquest.

Research Collection: The IRC collection includes a wide range of electronic and print resources, both in English and Spanish.  This collection is non-circulating.
