Family-Based Parole (CP-3)

Can I request parole for a family member?
Eligible applicants who are at least twenty-one years old may request parole for certain family members at the time of their immigrant visa interview. Please note that this is the only chance the applicant will have to request parole.

I submitted my request for parole two weeks ago but haven’t been notified by the U.S. Interests Section. Why?
Requests for the Family-Based Parole Program take an average of one month to be reviewed, sometimes longer. Please wait for the U.S. Interests Section to contact you.

I requested parole for my relatives. Do I need to be present during the parole process?
No. Visa holders do not need to be present during the parole process. Visa holders should travel to the United States during the validity of their visas.

Can I expedite my relative’s interview appointment so that we can travel together to the United States?
The constraints under which the U.S. Interests Section operates makes it difficult for us to meet the demand for earlier parole interview appointments unless there is an emergency situation that justifies the request for an expedited interview appointment.

If an emergency situation arises that justifies an expedited appointment, the petitioner should contact our Visa Information and Scheduling Center at 1-866-374-1769 to request an earlier appointment. Requests for expedited appointments are done solely through the operators in our Call Center.

How much does a parole cost?
The U.S. Interests Section does not charge a fee for the parole interview.

My request for parole was denied. Can I appeal this decision?
There is no appeal of a CP-3 parole denial, however, an applicant may submit a written request for reconsideration, within 90 days of the date of the adjudication, to:

Attn: USCIS
