FILING A PETITION

American citizens over 21 years old residing in Cuba may file a petition at the U. S. Interests Section for the following relatives: parents, spouse, children/ stepchildren, and siblings.  Petitions for fiancées are not accepted in this office. 

The American citizen filing the petition should provide the U.S. Interests Section with the following documentation:

• Form I-130
  Must be completed by the American citizen
  
  
• Form G-325A
  One page must contain the American citizen’s data; and the second page must contain the beneficiary’s information.  Both American citizen and beneficiary in Cuba must sign their corresponding page.
  
  
• U.S. Passport
  
  
• Identification card of the beneficiary and of the American citizen
  
  
• Beneficiary’s birth certificate
  
  
• Photos
  (1) recent passport style photo of the American citizen and (1) recent passport photo of the beneficiary. 
  
  
• Marriage certificate of the American citizen
  If filing a petition for a spouse and/or a stepchild. The marriage certificate is not required when filing a petition for a natural child.
  
  
• Marriage certificate of beneficiary
  If filing a petition for married children/stepchildren and/or for siblings.
  
  
• Divorce decree (if applicable)
  
  
• Fee of $329 convertible pesos (CUCs)

Once the documentation and fee have been received, the U.S. Interests Section will forward the case to the National Visa Center in the United States for additional processing.
