Cuban Family Reunification Parole Program (CFRP)

On November 21, 2007, the Department of Homeland Security began the Cuban Family Reunification Parole (CFRP) Program. Under this program, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is offering beneficiaries of approved family-based immigrant visa petitions an opportunity to come to the United States rather than remain in Cuba to apply for lawful permanent resident status (i.e., a "green card"). The purpose of the program is to expedite family reunification through safe, legal, and orderly channels of migration to the United States and to discourage dangerous and irregular maritime migration.

For specific information regarding eligibility for this program, please check the fact sheet and Q & A about this program.

Scheduling of Parole Appoinments

The U.S. Interests Section is not currently accepting appointment requests for parole under the Special Program for Cuban Migration, otherwise known as the bombo.  When appointments slots are available for bombo applicants, applicants will be required to use this service to schedule an appointment.  Any change in appointments for bombo applicants will be announced on the U.S. Interests Section website.

The U.S. Interests Section regrets any inconvenience resulting from changes to interview appointments and to other workload adjustments that are necessitated by the Section’s current resource constraints.

New Service for Scheduling Nonimmigrant Visas
On May 25, the United States Interests Section in Havana, Cuba, introduced a new Visa Information and Appointment Scheduling Service for all nonimmigrant visa applicants in Cuba.  Family members and associates in the United States can call the Service from anywhere in the U.S., toll-free at 1-866-374-1769 on behalf of the applicant in Cuba.  (more information)

Important Information Regarding Consular Fees
The U.S. Interests Section only accepts Cuban pesos convertibles, or chavitos, as payment for all visa fees.  These fees include the application fee for nonimmigrant visas and all fees pertaining to immigrant visa cases.  Please contact the Consular Information Unit at (53)(7) 834-4000 for information on the current exchange rate or click here for the most current list of visa fees.

Please note that U.S. dollars will still be accepted for payment of all American Citizen Services fees.

The U.S. Interests Section in Havana provides a wide range of services to Cuban Citizens.  The Consular Section is staffed by American Foreign Service Officers and a staff of both Cuban and American citizens who can help you with a variety of questions concerning the issuance of U.S. Visas.

You may download visa applications and instructions from this page. We have information concerning the issuance of both immigrant and nonimmigrant visas to Cuban citizens.

Under our "Useful Information" section, you will find quick links to the web sites of the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs, Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cuban Interests Section in the United States, and the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
